Blogging dry spell

It's been 10 days since I last blogged. I honestly dont' recall the last time that happened. I guess you ge in a rut of sharing projects and just dont' feel like it! lol, that is me right now.

Summer is now in full swing, the kids are finally out of school, and into their summer programs and I am almost on holiday time! Our winter was atrocious and so I am looking forward to as much nice weather as possible.

I spent last weekend camping with the kids at a nearly provincial park. The weather was great for the most part - I managed to get some sun in.. can you tell:

There is a nice man made lake there and the kids enjoyed lots of swimming and beachy picnics too. Those are my favorite summer time moments. I love hitting the beach and just soaking in some family time - and wearing the kids out naturally :)

There was a major downside- mosquitoes - they were SO BAD!! I think I had at least 30 on my one foot from setting up our tent. I wore my flip flops for about 15 minutes and this was the result.

We are supposed to go camping again this weekend, but honestly the bugs were just so bad that we will likely cancel. It's only a 20 mins drive from our home to the lake, so we will likely just make a few day trips to the lake to swim instead of fighting the bugs. Sad but true.

When I arrived home last night, my August Cocoa Daisy kit was in the house!! I cracked it open to drool over all the goodies inside. Lots of great stuff in these kits this month. Will be posting my projects asap!

OK, I am off to do some work.. have to clean off my desk this week so I can start my 5 week vacation Friday !

Q&A time!

I thought it might be fun if I answered a few reader questions instead of always yammering on and on.

So, here is what I need to know: Do you have any questions you want answered?? It can be anything?
Silhouette Cameo related, questions about products, how to use them, ideas? Favorite fonts, sewing tips, inpiration, etc.

Do you have any comments for me about my blog - what you like, don't like to read, etc.

Ask me anything and I will do my best to answer you!

Leave me a comment and I will work your questions, comments into a blog post in the next week ! I will also choose from those who comment to win a RAK from me!

Monday deep thoughts

Happy Monday!!

If you are at all like me, you are not a Monday person. For me, it's getting up at 5:30 am for work, and like gets busy again. I get a little reprieve from the hectic life on Sundays and so Mondays are always a killer for me.

I am interested in your opinion today on a particular scrapbook related subject - the LIFT.

Recently, I have come across several pages that remind me a lot of some of my work. I think it's great if someone is inspired by something I have done and how I have done it. What I don't think is great, if it is realy too similar.

In my eyes a "lift" of a project is one where someone gets an idea from something you have done and takes it - makes it their own. What I don't think is a "lift" is when someone does what you did, and either uses the same products, and colours, when using something you did. That to me is copying and not "lifting".

Now, truth be told, I really do believe that no one has 100% their own ideas. People are inspired by a lot of things these days, especially with Pinterest being so big right now.

Also, I am not saying I am all so fabulous that people want to create like me - in fact, I think my way of crafting scrapbook pages is different enough that people just can't figure it out and don't like it.

Anyway - I am not here today to out anyone who has lifted my work. I am interested though, in people's thoughts on "scraplifting". Am I way off or on the money? When is a lift a lift? I really would love to hear what you think on the subject.

The problem with the holidays...

is that I dive head first into them... baking, concerts, parties, shopping - all the fun stuff!! I actually have zero projects to share today for a change...just a life catch up for those that read and are interested :)

Working full time and life with three kids makes it tough sometimes to put scissors to paper - and this is that time of year for me. We still have one last pre-school concert to attend next week - but it is nice to have a few free nights this week to chill out and relax!

Truth is, I don't even have time at this time of year to do a December daily which I think is a great idea! I tried (& failed miserabely) last year.

I have been having fun testing out the Designer Edition of the software on my Silhouette Cameo - I have a few freebies coming up on the blog soon so watch for that. I am hoping to do that more often if people download them :)

In case you missed it - I posted a polaroid frame freebie HERE that I used on one of my DT reveals for Scraptastic.

Speaking of which, I just got my December kit - All the Lights - and can't wait to get started tomorrow night! They really are great kits, so well put together and free cuts included in them - perfect if you don't have a Silhouette or similar machine to cut with.  Look at all the goodies I have waiting for me. It has been tough to have to wait to scrap with it!!!

There is also a Mocha Latte kit available for purchase  - here is what you get in that kit! Lots of fun neutrals, which is very on trend right now.
I changed my mind - I will leave you with a quick project I did for the Pebbles Inc. blog a short while ago- this page was created in 30 mins.. which for me is a total feat of amazement. I am a slow scrapper!!!

I used a ton of small scraps and stickers to build the page on the right side... in hindsight, I would have made that part wider... but oh well! It is a colourful palette. love that.

Hope you are taking time to enjoy the season, regardless of what you celebrate. Enjoy your family and friends and don't get caught up in all the "stuff" ! :)
