Fancy Pants Designs sneak peek!

Hello! Just quickly stopping in to share a sneak of a project I have up on the Fancy Pants Designs blog today using the lovely Golden Days collection.

While this collection was made for fall, the coral color is perfect for a lovey themed project too

I used the Heart is Full background from my digital cut file store JustNick for the background.

Fancy Pants Designs - Joy Parade!

Hello hello! For the last 2 weeks we have been sharing projects on the Fancy Pants Designs blog using the fun new collection Joy Parade!

I created a bright and colorful page using this collection - I managed to use a lot of the bright, vibrant paper on my page.

I used some simple strips of patterned paper around the exterior of my page to draw the eye to the photos in the centre! A really great way to add a big impact of color and still draw the focus to the photos that you are using. Quite often the "stuff" we put on the page detracts from the photos! Not good, right?

This is a great way to easily mix up patterns too. Just use all that pretty color and pattern in smaller doses rather than large pieces mixed together.

I used a lot of the new puffy stickers and flair on this page. Love the cool vinyl like look of those puffy stickers. So shiny and pretty.

All in all, I love how this page came together. I find it really is about the idea to get the page going. Quite often for me that is a shape or size in my mind and then things just happen!

I love how this one came together and I hoe you do too!

I created a quick process video for this page, if you are interested - sit back and enjoy!

Holiday Centerpiece - Fancy Pants Designs

Well, Christmas is over and New Year's Eve is around the corner. I have one last DIY project to share with you from our holiday season that I created for the Fancy Pants Designs blog this month.

I started with a plain Jane candleholder. Pretty basic, fine... but totally boring! I really love the gold foil star vellum in the Merry & Bright collection and had a bit of an idea.... and got to work.

I measured the height of my candleholder and then trimmed my vellum down so it fit that height. I wrapped it around and luckily for me, there was a very small 1/8" overlap. This was good, as I did need some of the vellum to overlap so I could adhere it together.

I used some Ranger Glossy Accents to that overlap and held in in place a few minutes until it was stuck together. This took maybe 2-3 mins, so not too long.   I added some gold glitter washi tape from the Millie & June collection along the bottom edge.

Next, was to cover up that overlap! I added a swag of craftiness I had in my stash, and tied it all together with some ribbon. I glued that to the vellum and then tied on a tag from the Merry & Bright collection tag pack. I love the pop of red it gave and that gold foil embossing is just so pretty!

You can see that the vellum actually slides off the candleholder, so when I want to use it post-holiday, I can simply remove it and carefully store it away!

I really love how quickly and easily this came together. I am thinking I could either remove the tag or switch it for another to keep this up a little longer, over new years! Happy New Year!

Quick and Easy ornaments - Fancy Pants Designs

Hello hello! I had a project hit the Fancy Pants Designs blog the other day, and thought I would share it with  you!

Fancy Pants has come out with some fantastic rub-ons to co-ordinate with their Merry & Bright collection, and I thought that they would look great on some clear ornaments I picked up from the local craft store.

Check 'em out:

The rub-ons made for a super easy project - quite simply. I placed the design over the clear ornament and used my rub on tool to stick it all together! This one here is my favorite - it's using one of the rub on titles in the Merry & Bright collection:

Sorry for the glaring photo - hard to do with gold foil and clear ornaments! I some other sentiment rub ons on a few other ornaments and then on the last one, instead of rub-ons, I attempted to add some bottle brush trees to the inside of the ornament.

It was quite easy really. The trick is to have to correct size of bottle brush trees that will fit down the neck of the ornament. These ones in the Merry & Bright collection are the smallest and fit the best! I simply added a glue dot or two to the bottom of the wood tree base and then stuck them inside! I added some fluffed cotton and a few gold glitter balls I had in my stash to add some sparkle.

I am pretty happy with how they turned out ! A really quick craft to do when you are feeling crafty, but are short on time this holiday season!

Mini boxes & tags!

It's that time of year - time to start prepping for the holidays and wrapping gifts! I love to try to make a few things DIY style and this year, I created these fun mini boxes and tags.

I used the new Fancy Pants Designs collection Merry & Bright that is SO pretty, and totally gift worthy!

I diecut these boxes from a template on my Silhouette Cameo just from some plain textured cardstock. I adhered them together with some glue dots for stability - double sided tape would work great too. They were a little too plain, so I added some punched white cardstock trim and some Fancy Pants Designs corrugated paper to decorate a little.

As you can see, I created little tags for each box using some scraps from my stash.

I like making unique tags for each gift, these are things that make DIY so great, as you can't find that in a commercial store!  This one is simple just some stitched pennant shapes of paper and a piece of flair and a few buttons.

I hand cut the J and Y and added a large red button for my O. So easy and quick!

This one is just a series of strips of holiday themed paper from the collection, stitched together with a mini die cut, some puffy stickers and a few mini buttons too.

They turned out pretty cute and I love the handmade look!

Back to school with Fancy Pants Designs

Good morning! I shared a project over on the Fancy Pants Designs blog the other day and thought I would share it here quickly.

The theme was "back to school", and since I have our oldest headed off to high school this year, it only seemed appropriate to document that!

I started with a piece of Fancy Pants Designs corrugated cardstock and my Good Fellows 6x6 paper pad. I used the Stencil Alpha cut file from JustNick for the letters, and cut them out of various patterns from the paper pad.

I added in just a few small embellishments to the page, a pie chart flair and some fun die cuts from the Good Fellows ephemera pack.

Once I had all that die cutting done, the page came together quite quickly and I like the final result! And man, it is tough to see how grown up my guy is already.

I hope you like it too! Stay tuned for more projects :)

Fancy Pants Designs - It starts with an idea

The other day I shared a quick sneak of a project I made for Fancy Pants Designs using this quilt as an inspiration piece !

I was inspired by all those colorful strips of fabric on the quilt and kept that in mind when starting my project. I used several strips of paper from the Fancy Pants collection - Millie and June for this page.

I also added in a ton of stitching, which in hindsight... I don't think I would repeat ! I think it was a bit too much, but was too late once I got started :) oh well!

I added in a title of enamel words and these fantastic chipboard alphas from the Life is Beautiful collection - I love these!

And here is how the whole thing came together. Looks a little complicated, but I promise you it isn't!

That's it for me today, hope you are enjoying the last bits of summer !

Fancy Pants Designs - Go BIG or go home!

Last week over on the Fancy Pants Designs blog, we were challenged to scrap those sport photos! Truth is, I have several sporty photos, but never really scrap them!

Since the photos are pretty busy, I chose to use a series of strips of paper along one side of my page and left the other side mainly empty with the exception of a large title and my photos.

I kept the embellishing to a minimum too, just adding a few neutral cork stars to my photo area and some brighter yellow ones along the strips!

I think I like how it came out - lots of colour, but pretty simple too, which is not always something I can accomplish!

To check out more sporty projects, just head over to the Fancy Pants Designs blog

Fancy Pants Designs - Champions

Hello ! I know it has been a while since I have posted - eek! You would think there would be more time in the summer, not less!

Just wanted to share a project that was posted on the Fancy Pants Designs blog a bit ago, for our weekly focus on shapes! I was assigned stars and this is what I came up with.

I used a star background cut file from JustNick, my digital diecut store and filled in the background with lots of patterned papers from the Good Fellows collection.

I don't often do a lot of sporty photos, but this was a great change to do that - mixing stars and sports seems to be a WIN WIN!  Here is how the whole thing came together:

That's it for me today! I have lots of projects to share, so stay tuned! I am back from vacation and have lots more time to blog regularly :)

Make A Splash - Fancy Pants Designs

Hello, summer is in full swing now up here- the kids are finally out of school and I am t-4 days until my vacation! YAY!

I am stopping in to share a page I made for the Fancy Pants Designs blog last week, mixing several collections.

I started the page by using some of these letters from the Office Suite collection - still one of my favorites. I love the large fun mixed font.

I added in a few diecut polaroids I made, a good way to increase the size of your smaller photos. I added some embellishments from Life Is Beautiful and Making Waves too.

I like how the whole thing came together pretty simply, not often for me that I keep things simple, usually I am filling a whole background with a bunch of "stuff".

That's it for me today! Hope you are enjoying your summer so far!

Fancy Pants Scraplift Week!

This week was scraplift week on the Fancy Pants Designs blog - I chose to scraplift the amazing Jess Mutty and here is my page.

I did a lot of fussy cutting and chose to go with the same grid format that Jess did on her page, although I swapped in the Life is Beautiful collection.

I love this little cluster that is held together into one of those grid pieces on the page. The fun summery die cut collection helps make a grouping like this come together quickly.

Here is how the whole page came together!

Thanks Jess for the inspiration!

I will be back later for the full project!
