Sharing some Janome projects!

If you have been a follower of my blog, it will be no big surprise to you that I love stitching on my projects. Fact is, as soon as I discovered that I could use my sewing machine on my scrapbook projects, I was hooked.

I was lucky enough to be asked by Janome Canada to work on a few ads for the spring issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine using a couple of their different products.

I created this project with some scraps of fabric I had in my stash, using my Janome G1218 sewing machine!

I added stitching to this project as well, and diecut the background (a file from JustNick ) using my Artistic Edge digital die cutting machine!

Make Merry with Janome

Good morning, happy holidays and welcome to my blog! Today, I am taking part in a special event - Make Merry with Janome! Multiple stitching type artisans have come together for the next several days to share some holiday themed projects, made with our Janome machines!

I used both my Janome Edge Digital Die Cutting machine and Janome G1218 sewing machine to create this fun and easy Advent Calendar!

I am always looking for a quick and easy way to incorporate something fun to the holidays around our home. I thought some rip-open style packages would be fun for my kids to open each day. Each little shape has some treats inside that they can share.

Quite simply, I diecut a lot of shapes from my digital cut file store JustNick on my Janome Edge digital die cutting machine. Two designs for each package I was going to create! You need to make sure that each image has a reverse image cut, so that when you line them up together, they match! I used a star, ornament, square, gingerbread man and even a fun Christmas tree for my shapes.

Once the shapes were cut and placed back to back to each other, I simply started sewing them together on my Janome G1218, leaving a space at the end so I could quickly stuff them with treats. Once I added the treats, I finished off stitching my shapes together.

Next, I lined all the shapes in a row and ensured there was a good mixture of shapes for the days and added numbers using more diecut circles, snowflakes and some ribbon. My good old alphabet sticker stash made this quick work.

I added all the completed shapes into a bowl on our dining room table and now, the kids just need to find the right day and rip them open to get their treats!

This is a great last minute way to pull together a quick advent calendar if you are running short of time!

Here is a sneak peek of tomorrow's Making Merry project that you can find on the Janome Life blog!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I hope you enjoyed this project!

Janome Summer Ad

I have been lucky enough to be asked to contribute layouts for ads in Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine for the sewing machine folks at Janome Canada for the last year or so.

Here is the ad I did up for the summer issue of SCT (still available FREE online HERE)

Each ad is obviously sewing inspired - I use a standard Janome machine on all my projects. This time, I created a fun sun shape with paper and sequins and some cool waves with stitching on vellum.

I love stitching of all kinds on my projects and my Janome machine makes it so easy too! If you love the look of sewing on pages, stay tuned as I have something super exciting coming up regarding that :)

Janome!

Have you heard of Janome ?? Yes, the sewing machine manufacturer?

I have been lucky enough to be sent a Janome machine a while back and it is the only sewing machine I use now! September is National Sewing month and the Janome blog will be full of sewing tips and techniques/inspiration for you to enjoy. I have a quick post on the Janome blog today all about apples and the page I am sharing today. Would love it if you could stop by and say hi over there!

I created an ad for the fall issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine that will go live FREE online on September 19! If you are a paper copy person - you can very easily get your copy at your local scrapbook store or subscribe if you want to be sure to get your copy!

Here is the layout I created for the ad for Janome this round:

I was tasked to use Apples + Purple - the Janome theme for September!
Purple was tough, but Crate Paper has this pretty fall line that was perfect for the page.

Thanks for stopping by the blog ! I appreciate all your comments :)

Janome

Good morning! The spring issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today went live and I am excited to have a few fun projects in the magazine!

I am also extra excited for this issue for another reason! I was asked to create a page for an ad in the magazine for Janome!

Now, if you haven't heard of Janome, they are the makers of sewing machines. Several good quality machines, I might add. They were so kind as to send one to me a few months ago and I am happy to report - it is honestly a great machine.

I was sent the Janome **insert model #** and noticed a few things right away.

1) It was light. This is good news for someone like me who moves it up and down off my scrap table all the time.

2) It threads easily and sews like BUTTER. I mean, so smooth. After sewing a litle with it, I couldn't believe how clunky my other machine was.

3)It is fairly quiet. Again, compared to my old machine, much quieter. All machines are going to be somewhat noisy, but this one does seem quieter.

So, all around a win-win for me!

I was excited to get to work to create a spring project for their ad and this is what I came up with:

I started off my page by choosing some pretty spring colours - yellow, pink, purple, with touches of blue and white. I had a lot of different colours chosen, so I decided to make a couple pie charts - gasp, I know. lol

You can see I added lots of stitching detail to the piecharts - and then they became flowers, and I added stems with even more stitching detail.

I wasn't quite done stitching yet - I added a frame over my patterned paper layers and added in some sunbeams around my flowers onto the background of my page.

Here is my finished page. You can see that the stitching is a big part of the overall design of the page. I love how it turned out - so springy and fresh!

That's it! If you are interested in the FREE Spring Issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today - check it out online HERE - or inquire at your local scrapbook store!
