Basic Grey Paper Cottage part 3!

I am back to share another page I made for Let's Capture Our Memories using

Basic Grey's Clippings & Paper Cottage lines.

First off, let me be totally honest - I used to be a HUGE Basic Grey fan - then for whatever reason, I was 'meh... now, I think I could be back lovin' it again! Especially with these 2 great lines! I could use Paper Cottage all the time!

for this page, I used mainly the Clippings line - with a few pieces of Paper Cottage to add a little colour:

I used my new Silhouette Cameo ( YAY!!! ) to cut the title out. Love the font BLACKOUT so I cut out the 2012 and pasted some scraps behind each letter. I added the ME with some black cardstock and one of the cute Jenni Bowlin tiny tab chipboard pieces I had picked up too!

 

I roughed my page up just a little by cutting a strip of the paper, rolling/tearing it a bit and adding a pop of colour behind it and stitching over all of it. I made a few flags with leftover stickers and paper and a couple toothpicks :)

I used more of my scraps and punched out a ton of confetti and seriously sprinkled it on the page. Used a bit of wet Tobow glue to stick it in place. I cut out some circles from one of my Paper Cottage papers and adhered them with 3D foam squares.

For the wave, I actually pieced these two papers together that way as I had already cut one of the whiteish circles from the main paper before and needed to make the page 12x12 ! lol

So, with a little paper and a lot of adhesives...lol, I finished the page! I hope you will check out some Basic Grey out at Let's Capture Our Memories... there is lots in stock right now!

Mini album month at Let's Capture Our Memories! & a winner!

Now, onto scrappy goodness!
All through September the Marketing Team will be sharing mini-albums with goodies from the LCOM store!

Today, I am sharing a book I made using some Basic Grey Clippings & Paper Cottage, using this cute little mini found in the store by Basically Bare:

I have to admit that I have trouble with minis... EEK! Yes, I have a hard time .. I am not sure why, but this time I took it one step at a time. I decided on a theme and used a bunch of my duplicate instagram photos from this summer and went with it!

For my cover, I cut a chevron paper from my Silhouette Cameo and used it as a mask for a paint dauber and left the cover neutral, but using the cream paint and the kraft base of the album. I added a small title and some embellishments to quickly pull the cover together: 

I did the same thing to the back of the book with a skinnier chevron:

One little tip I would have for you - when making a project like this - try to tie the album together by using one item throughout the album to unify it. It can be a colour, shape or product. 

I chose to use some droplets throughout as above with Glimmer Glaze

Here are a bunch of photos to show the album! You will see how great the 2 Basic Grey lines work together and have some great stickers, & embellies to document your photos - sorry, there are a lot of pics :

You will see that I used some of the Clippings Garlands instead of paper - I left my book bare as I love the neutral kraft background - it matches basically anything!

You will see here that I have a bit more paint masking going on. I rubbed a bit of mist over the top to make it a different texture for the background :)

One cool thing about this album is that it has acrylic tabs inside too! I just swiped some cream paint along each of them, let them dry and used some old school Heidi Swapp rub ons for little titles" 

I used a lot of these garlands throughout the book too. A fun way to add patterns and movement: 

Elle's Studio tags are PERFECT for minis - stock up! There are a good variety in the store.

 I just added a few stickers from Basic Grey to finish off the page:

 I picked up some Jenni Bowlin chipboard tags and added them in with more of the garland:

I just am totally addicted to pie charts lately  - a great way to add a lot of pattern to your page. This page came together WAY quickly, a pie chart, the BG premade garland and some punched confetti and vo

 I just love the mini coat hanger I had and added in a few little black clothespins for good measure. Love the stiff twine to tie the banner together.

It is odd for me to love a page so much...but I honestly, love this one!!! Hope you do too!

Bella Blvd. Kit!

Bella Blvd / Baby Girl - Snuggly Safari Here is another project I made using it: I know that initally, I thought that people would think I am nuts picking the pretty pink and girly papers from Bella Blvd and then mixing other brights in.. fact is, it only takes a paper or two to tie the colours together! I used the striped paper in a thin strip to show all the colours and then chose other papers for the page to make it more masculine! My favorite thing in the kit is the stamp - I love getting something I can re-use often and this stamp will get used I tell ya!! Here it is stamped with black on the pink Bella paper. Love the Evalicious buttons too :) I added in the mini October Afternoon Alphas and some Bella Blvd letters in red from my stash that I had picked up at LCOM before ! :)  Love that font! That's it!! This page was a quick one to do as I had everything I needed in the kit! Would be great to get this and bring along on a vacation with a few photos and some adhesive - and a trimmer :)

Self made kit!

This month, I put together a kit for myself full of goodies from the LCOM store!

It has some Bella Blvd Baby girl, Crate Paper, and October Afternoon in it. Even some Maya Road twine and some fun Evalicious badges too ! (psst...there are some new ones in the store too !! Yay!)

Here is a picture of my "kit" all ready to be dug into!

 I really Love the Evalicious badges and knew I wanted to add some into my kit:

 Look how pretty that sparkly twine is too ! just the right hint of sparkle to the page.

 I did add in some Bella Blvd. chipboard from my stash that I had already picked up from LCOM before. The summery shapes are perfect to mix in with these lines! You could use any chipboard - the baby girl ones that co-ordinate with the paper are in stock!!

 of course, there are more Elle's Studio tags on here too - can't get enough of those!!! Perfect for adding little bits of journalling on your pages.

and I just love the Bella Blvd Baby Girl stickers too!!! Not just for baby pages either!

I have been working on some projects for Let's Capture Our Memories this month and I am hooked.
I'll admit it - I love this paper - the soft patterns and versatility has hooked my completely and totally :)

Problem is - this paper is already sold out in the store - but I thought I would share my page anyway !

First up - I love this background paper - and not only is it in the Take Note pack, but as single sheets too as a Classic Calico Plano paper - and the best part is that it is still in stock!

 I added in some Elle's Studio and Ormolu tags to the page

 and made a few little flags with pieces of paper that co-ordinate! I used some Stick Pins as the base too!

 I used my paper mixing theory and randomly cut some hearts out of all the patterns in the package. I love the free formed hearts stitched and some foam square added behind them to made them 3D like.

There are lots of new things in the store that you could use to make this project!

Just switch up the papers, use the same background page and go wild!

Why not check out some new Heidi Swapp, Jillibean Soup or October Afternoon papers and use it instead!

Take Note

I hope you are trying to stay cool in your part of the world!! Here in central Canada - the weather is SO HOT!! I am loving it... can't wait for my holidays in a few weeks so I can sit back and relax!

I wanted to share a project with you today using the Studio Calico line - Take Note that I did for Let's Capture Our Memories.

This month, I picked up the whole collection pack - right now there are 6x6 paper packs on sale for 50% off!!! You cannot beat that deal!

What I love about the packs is that everything goes - it is not matchy matchy too, which I do love, and the patterns are so grown up too!

I really wanted to use a lot of the papers in the collection all together... so I started chopping chunks and this is what I came up with:

 I made a sun ray pattern really randomly - I just cut down pieces until they fit.. I really am not a measurer- so it took a little fiddling, but it worked! Remember the tips I gave last month on mixing patterns - same rules apply here:

 I also snagged up some of the Elle's Studio tags to add to the mix too. the cute sentiments are just perfect for layouts and cards of all occasions:

 and another goodie in the store is the Ormolu tags! I added a few to the top and bottom of my page, along with a few stitched hearts:

Quick tips for mixing patterns

Sometimes it is tough to know when and how to mix patterns of paper.

For Lets' Capture Our Memories this month, I offered up a few quick tips:

Here are a few quick guidelines that works well for me!

1) Try to stick to  a small/medium/large approach. Use 1 pattern in each scale size. For example - use a smaller floral, with a medium stripe and a large polka dot... or vice versa

2) Mixing colours to add contrast in the pattern - don't use 3 red stripes - use 1 stripe, 1 dot, 1 check in different colours ... you get the idea

3) Let the products work for you! Use what is made for it! Check out what the manufacturer sells - it is likely that they have already mixed the patterns in the pack - that makes it so easy to mix and match and make it work for you.

4) If you want to use a ton of different patterns - stick to a neutral background

On this page - I used all these guidelines to mix my papers and I happen to love the result:

using step #2 - mixed different patterns with different colours

 using step #3 - use what the product has! These die cuts are already to be used - just mix them up
