Basic Grey - new Saturday Morning + a bit of a tutorial

Good morning!! I am up on the Basic Grey blog today with this page and a little bit of a tutorial for you too, using the new Saturday Morning collection by Basic Grey!

This collection is so bright and colorful, I just love all the patterns in this collection - but how do you do that in a way that is not too "out there". I like to combine lots of patterned paper in fun and yet a slightly clean manner. Well, clean for me (I can't to clean and graphic like my friends, the pros Summer Fullerton or Nancy Damiano)

So, I cut a whole lot of shapes and put them together. Add in a neutral background and a neutral title like these cork stickers by Basic Grey and BAM! done.

You can see all the lovely patterns in the collection here, in the floral like stitched pieces on the left side of the layout.

To see the whole tutorial, make sure you stop by the Basic Grey blog ! Hope you like this page :)

NEW Basic Grey - Urban Luxe

I have another NEW Basic Grey collection to share with you - Urban Luxe!

This one is pretty funky and modern! Such a unique blend of color and pattern. I went a little crazy with my circle punches on this one.

You can really see all the fun patterns in the collection by looking at the circles on the page. I used each pattern from the collection to create my rows of stitched circles, layering some up and changing up the color/patterns as I went. I added some of the new sequins and some Candy Dots to some of the circles for a little texture and pops of color!

The collection also has some fun watercolor alphas! You can mist, stamps, watercolor, paint... whatever them! I used some pink watercolors here on my numbers for part of my title.
(Full disclosure - I am not a watercolor expert as you can see.. lol)

Fun right? Hope you love this new collection! Lots of fun goodness in this one!

NEW Basic Grey - Saturday Morning!

Hello hello! Basic Grey has announced a new collection called Saturday Morning and I have a layout to share with you today using it!

Part of this collection are these great layerable flowers. The package comes with diecut flowers, tissue flowers as well as a mesh flower and some buttons. Great for easy layering without any guesswork! I used a collection of these flowers to cascade down the center of my page.

I let the flowers be the showcase and added some diecuts as well as Candy Dots and a Canvas Tag from another NEW Basic Grey collection tucked in there too :)

Cute right! The colors are bright but not too crazy! Lots of possibilities for this one! I hope you like it!

NEW Basic Grey - Hillside + a chance to WIN!

It's time for another NEW Basic Grey collection release - and this one is called Hillside!

Full of fun spring/summer colors and patterns, I could not wait to chop into those papers and get started.

You can see I cut various strips of paper along the one side of my page, adding some vellum and kraft tags from another NEW collection in a few spots with some buttons and Candy Dots for embellishment.

Love the pack of leafy diecuts and vellum in this collection, great for a quick tuck behind a photo or tag.

You can see that I added a little watercolor paint to my journaling card. I have plans for that again with this collection!

Want to have a chance to WIN this collection before you can buy it? Stop by the Basic Grey blog HERE for the full reveal and to enter in for a chance to win!

That's it for me today! Hope you like this new collection as much as I do!

Basic Grey - Dear Heart

It's pinspiration day on the Basic Grey blog! I am up with a page using the new Dear Heart collection by Basic Grey! It is such a pretty lovey collection, so I headed to Pinterest and found a few images that peeked my interest.

I used these images as starting points for the design of my page. I really loved the open window on the jar and used that concept for the open heart grid on the right side of the page.

I then cut out part of my title onto some Basic Grey paper from the Best of Basic Grey paper pad twice, adding foam adhesive to the middle for some easy dimension.

You can see I used an arrow that I diecut from my diecut machine, inspired by the pinterest images.

And here is how it all came together!

Basic Grey - Juniper Berry + free cut file!

Hey! I am up on the Basic Grey blog today with a holiday themed project using Juniper Berry with a FREE cut file too!

I created a tree like base for my project using a series of layered squares and added little tags with photos and journaling of our favorite Christmas traditions to each space.

It was a great way to document all those little details if you don't do a large December Daily style of project! (which I don't)

To grab the download, head over to the Basic Grey blog

ENJOY!

Hip Kit Club - November kit!

Good morning! I am really at a kids Christmas party, but secretly popping in to share a recent page I made using the November Kip Kit Club kits!

I really put my digital die cut machine to do most of the work on this page. I used the Handcut letters cut file from my store JustNick. I randomly cut letters from different papers in the kit and then added them to the woodgrain exclusive Hip Kit paper designed by Kim Watson.

I die cut a few trees from my freebie for November at Hip Kits  and mixed in a Pink Fresh Studio diecut tree and some epoxy dots too!

That's it for me today! I will be back soon with more projects. :)

Christmas Pajamas - November Hip Kits!

Wow, time is flying this time of year! I can't believe it is already December 5th already! I am here to share another page with the November Hip Kits!

I wanted to record the memory for the kids of our yearly Christmas pajama tradition. When I was a kid, we didn't do anything of this sort  of thing and I thought it would be something nice... everyone always needs new PJs right!

I used mostly Hip Kit exclusives for this page, to create the ornaments, the letters as well as the acrylic embellishments! Lots of good stuff.

Happy Holidays :)

Basic Grey blog - Typeset

Good morning! I am just stopping in on this TGIF to share some weekend inspo for you using the Basic Grey collection - Typeset!

I created this page for the Basic Grey blog HERE, using tons of diecut stickers and layering to create this page:

As you can see, I started with a simple grid design and used lots of stickers to add to the grid to layer it up! Add in some dimensional foam adhesive and you are golden - I mixed stickers, wood veneer and chipboard in too for even more dimension.

Adding a little stitching detail to stickers makes them look like you purchased them that way! Use chipboard to add dimension to other embellishments without using foam adhesive.

That's it for me today! I will be back tomorrow with a fun Hip Kit Club holiday themed layout!

new Basic Grey - Dear Heart!

I am a little late in posting these projects that I did for the new Basic Grey release - Dear Heart! I was happy to work with these pretty papers as part of my first DT assignments with them!

The collection is obviously of a "love" theme, but there are some great any-use papers in the collection, I particularly love all that mint green!

Lots of fun embellishments in this collection too, like the felt heart and mini pins you can see in this page.

Just a quick post for me today! Lots coming up on the blog and over at my digital cut file store - JustNick - so stay tuned!

Cut file freebie for October!

It's the first Tuesday of the month - and that means time for another cut file freebie on the Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine blog! This one is pretty whimsical - and I do think it reminds me of cobwebs, which is perfect for October right!

I did not go the cobwebs route, but used it as a layering piece for a masculine page. I know, I haven't scrapped my boys for a while now. That is basically because they won't let me take their photos anymore! Especially my 13 year old who is in this page below.

I did cut the cut file freebie twice - once with vellum and a second time with white cardstock. I placed the vellum over the white and added some patterned paper behind it. I don't often use large circles, so I cut the whole thing in half and then stitched it to my page in place, adding a small title along the curve of one half of the circle. This allowed me to use up some letter stickers, which is a huge win-win for me!!

I dug into my stash for some masculine items, like flair, stars and even some stamps. I added a couple rows of stamps along the bottom of the page. Need to use my stamps more! These ones by Technique Tuesday are some of my favorites.

That's it for me! If you want to download this freebie, head over to the SCT magazine website HERE and download it for FREE!

NEW Basic Grey - Sunkissed !

I am back again with another preview of Basic Grey's second new fall release - Sunkissed!

This collection is SO PRETTY!! Lots of great florals, I love the mix of green, aqua and that pretty pink with a pop of red and black too!

If you read my blog post the other day, I mentioned that Basic Grey has come out with some new embellishments - I love the embellishment pack with twine, sequins and clothespins ( I am addicted to those )

They also added some fun cork embellishments - so perfect for a little embellishment here or as part of a title too! I love these layered butterflies - they come in separate pieces of paper and vellum that you can change up however you like and create a butterfly of your choosing! I added some foam adhesive between one of the layers to maintain that dimension in my album.

I am a sucker for buttons and I love the smooth look on these ones in the collection! The look really great with the cork stickers.

That's it for me today! Make sure you check out the full reveal from the other day on the Basic Grey blog!

NEW Basic Grey - Typeset !

Hello hello!!!

I am always excited to do a little freelance work for Basic Grey - they have always been one of my favorite companies and the new fall releases are AMAZING!!!

I created this project using the new Typeset collection- seriously, one of my new faves!! It was revealed on the blog yesterday... here is my project with it:

You can see that I used a lot of different patterned papers on this one, by simply layering punched circles together on the bottom of the page. I am in love with the teal hello paper and that fun coral/pink polka dot... oh, and the black camera paper - LOVE!

Basic Grey has also come up with some new embellishments ! They have some fun wood veneer for this collection, along with enamel stickers (alpha and a couple sentiments), flair and more! I used some of those here on the page:

I love that "hello" wood veneer and had to use it for my title, along with one of the chipboard shapes and some of those new epoxy letters.

Stay tuned tomorrow for another Basic Grey reveal on their blog - and please come back in a couple days to check out my project with it!
