Fancy Pants Designs - Joy Parade!

Hello hello! For the last 2 weeks we have been sharing projects on the Fancy Pants Designs blog using the fun new collection Joy Parade!

I created a bright and colorful page using this collection - I managed to use a lot of the bright, vibrant paper on my page.

I used some simple strips of patterned paper around the exterior of my page to draw the eye to the photos in the centre! A really great way to add a big impact of color and still draw the focus to the photos that you are using. Quite often the "stuff" we put on the page detracts from the photos! Not good, right?

This is a great way to easily mix up patterns too. Just use all that pretty color and pattern in smaller doses rather than large pieces mixed together.

 

I used a lot of the new puffy stickers and flair on this page. Love the cool vinyl like look of those puffy stickers. So shiny and pretty.

All in all, I love how this page came together. I find it really is about the idea to get the page going. Quite often for me that is a shape or size in my mind and then things just happen!

Today, I am sharing a project that was up on the Fancy Pants Designs blog the other day.

I used mainly the Happy Place collection for this page, with a little Wish Season thrown in too :)

Our dog just turned 17 years old and we know each day we still have him is a gift. We know his time is short with us, and we are faced with the difficult choice of what to do. :( He has been my sidekick for the last 17 years and since my husband works overnights, he has been my buddy through the night to help keep us safe... even though he is not a guard dog ;)



 I think this page came together in less than an hour - which is a bit of a record for me. All I did, was simply punch a whole lot of circles and layer them together.

Jillibean Soup Thankful album

This month at Jillibean Soup, we were challenged to create a project with the FREE printable that you can snag over on the website HERE and HERE

I created this mini album using these printables along with some of my favorite Jillibean Soup Mix the Media products! I used Happy Hues paints and some of the Stencil/Masks.

JustNick - Remember

HELLO HELLO! and good morning!  I am here today to share a layout and process video of a page I created for my digital cut file store - JustNick

The theme this week is Remember - it is Remembrance Day here today in Canada so it is appropriate to look back on our own lives. I came across this old photo of my daughter on her "birth" day and I wanted to re-scrap it. It was one of those pictures I took off an older layout.  As you can see, there are a lot of flowers on this page.

I diecut a bunch of flowers from the Stems for Stephanie cut file from the store and layered them together with some buttons and twine. They are great shapes - perfect for layering, if I do say so myself ;)

 

I added some epoxy dots and brads to the centres too, and some other embellishments to my floral cluster. How do you like that background?? Well, that is a new design coming VERY soon :)

October Hip Kit Club Kits + Process Video

GOOD MORNING! Can you believe it is the first weekend in November already? Yikes, this year went by quickly

I am stopping in to share a page I created with the October Hip Kits and the October Mood Board over at HKC!

I was drawn to a few different elements in the mood board - gold dipped acorns, the color scheme and the frames in the mood board, so went with that on my page!

I diecut the feathers from my cut file freebie for October at HKC and embossed the tips with gold embossing powder. I LOVE how these turned out! 

Next, I added a whole wack of frames and cards across my page, adding lots of embellishments from the kit too along the way.

And this is how it turned out! I love this colour palette - so soft and feminine, yet fallish too right!?

JustNick cards + process video!

Hello hello! I created a few cards on World Cardmaking day and forgot to share them! I used a couple different cut files from my digital cut file store - JustNick and thought I would share them with you today!

This first card is really quite simple - I cut the sentiment from the Card Sentiments 1 cut file and used my watercolour paints to do an ombre type technique to the plain white cardstock.

I love the interesting look the watercolours give to a plain sheet of cardstock! So cheap and easy too :)

For this card, I used the Card Sentiments 2 - I love the circular look for titles and thought that it would be fun to use as sentiments on cards... so I created this one, again adding lots of watercolour paints to the title as well as the feathers from the Sweater Weather cut file.

I really love how this card came out - the embossing on the feathers is a great textural touch and looks great combined with the watercolour paints!

Hip Kit May kit!

Good morning! I am up on the Hip Kit club blog today with one last page using the May kits - June just arrived on my doorstep and I started playing with it last night !

I went with a bit of a bold title - using a leftover black cut out from my Silhouette and went from there adding in lots of bits from this month's kits.

Good morning! Last weekend, when I *thought* this page published... we were actually taking part in our community garage sale.




We are definitely in a purging state of mind around here lately, we have been bogged down with so many kids toys and clothes and "stuff" that we just need to rid ourselves with! Luckily, we got rid of a few things and the rest is packed up to go off to charity now!





I am popping in to share another page I made with the May Hip Kits from Hip Kit Club.

I used the Funky Piecharts cut file from my cut file store - JustNick - for this page. It's a great way to get a bunch of papers on your page without it getting too crazy!

So pretty & happy - May Hip Kit Club kits!

Good morning! I am a little late in posting, this last week has been a literal whirlwind. The kids have some sort of sports 7 days a week, and between being a taxi driver to their activities, cheering from the sidelines, I also work full-time. Anyways, that's my sob story :) Blogging hasn't fit into my schedule these days and I hate that!

Anyway, I had a new page hit the Hip Kit Club blog last weekend, using the May kits. This month's kits are so pretty - American Crafts and Chickaniddy Crafts too! I love the Chickaniddy papers and used a lot of them on this page to back the FREE cut file I designed for May on the Facebook forum.

NSD at Hip Kit Club!!

We are celebrating National Scrapbooking Day all weekend over at Hip Kits that is themed around design. I am kicking off my time slot with a challenge all about using straight lines

I found this on Wikipedia about using Straight Lines as a design principle that I found was interesting

Straight lines are called linear when used in a piece of art work. Straight lines add affection and can make it look more detailed and challenging. Horizontal, vertical, and angled lines often contribute to creating different moods of a picture.

The angle and the relationship to the size of the frame both work to determine the influence the line has on the image. They are also strongly influenced by tone, color, and repetition in relation to the rest of the photograph. Horizontal lines, commonly found in landscape photography, can give the impression of calm, tranquility, and space.

An image filled with strong vertical lines tends to have the impression of height, and grandeur. Tightly angled convergent lines give a dynamic, lively, and active effect to the image whereas strongly angled, almost diagonal lines generally produce tension in the image.

I took the challenge of straight lines quite literally and used simple straight lines on my page - with the intention of directing the eye to the photos by using the paper in strips. It really is a simple example, but you could go in so many directions with this one!

Silhoutte America - Loved

Hello and welcome to my blog! I just wanted to say HI to all my loyal readers, I know that you are out there even if you don't leave a comment!

Today I am sharing a page I made with my Silhouette CAMEO and the help of sketch pens and my watercolor paints. I did a tutorial last month on the Silhouette blog HERE on how to make your own patterned paper using sketch pens and watercolors and thought I would give it another go for this page:.

The possibilities for this technique are truly endless. You can virtually sketch out any design with your CAMEO, select your favorite watercolor paints and get to work with really little effort.

I love script font titles and added one in black to go with the black sketch pen I had used and contrast the pinks in the background a bit.
