SCT July free cut file time!

This month's freebie is totally me. I went with a whimsical design, inspired by this image I found on Pinterest called Beach Umbrellas.

Here is what the freebie looks like:

I drew a triangle and rotated it to create this pattern. I used lots of different papers to back them and went crazy with the stitching as you can see here:

Here was my finished result! yes, it did take a while to back all those triangles, but the effect would be just as lovely with a single pattern too. It would be a great floral look.

Here are a couple pages I made using my last kit on the Scrapbook Circle DT - my term has come to an end - I am going to miss these kits!!! They really are the BEST out there - so well put together with always a fun find inside :)

I love the Pebbles in this kit!!! I chopped up a bunch of the sheet and used it all over this page along with the Simple Stories journalling cards too! I love  the fun summery colours!
Added in this stamped image from the  Dear Lizzy stamp that was in a previous kit ! Cute!!
I just love colour and this kit is filled with it!!!!

Here is another example:
I just knew that I was going to layer some cardstock behind parts of this paper and make a sun..this yellow/orange paper was perfect for that! the American Crafts diecuts in the kit are perfect for layering ...i used them in my title grouping here:
lots of good little bits in the kit, more elle's studio tag love for me! :)
I really hope you will check out what the rest of the DT has done with this kit. Check out the ideas page or visit the blog for lots of inspiration!!

Scrapbook Circle July kit

This month's kit - Sunshine Day - has lots of options for layering. If you are at all like me, you get completely gaga crazy over the embellishments in the kits each month! This month is no exception. You get to choose from stickers, labels, frame stickers, buttons, little coat hooks, die cuts, envelopes...the add on even has a stamp -- well, you get the idea! I dove right into all these things when working on my kit. They may not be made by the same company or in the same product line - but they do work well together!  Take a look up close to see it all in action:
A little tip is that when things at first just don't seem to "match".... think of ways you can tie them together...maybe with a neutral layer behind them or even some stitching!
This page has a lot of these things in mind! I used a variety of different embellishments from the kit, and pulled it together in a neutral background with some coloured misted splotches, matting some items with the charcoal patterned paper and lots of stitching!
Hope you will find a new appreciation for all those extra goodies in each and every Scrapbook Circle kit!

and can you believe that the August kit - True Story - has already sold out!!! it is not even August 1 yet!
Here is what you are missing out on:

So, dont' wait - if there is a kit you want at Scrapbook Circle - grab it before it is gone!

There is lots of yummy Studio Calico papers, Elle's Studio tags, Jillibean Soup buttons... and more all in the kit! The add on this month has this freakin' AWESOME Elle's Studio stamp that I cannot stop using:
I stitched a lot of layering on this page:
and couldn't resist adding in an American Crafts chipboard "7" in red. Goes so nice with the tags :)

Please check out the blog daily for lots of inspiration and tips!!! You don't want to miss this kit - it is just so pretty and summery too!

Negative Space

There is a trend out there now using the negative space on projects. With the Silouette Cameo making a big impact right now in the scrapping world - more and more people are creating their own images and diecuts. The negative space I am talking about is the cut out portion from a machine such as this, or if you don't have one like me, punches!

For this months' projects over at Scrapbook Circle - I tried to use this trend, although I don't have the fancy tool to do it! (though I reallllly want one about now)

I love the look of the cut out designs - but I just can't afford the machine + all right now... so, I used my punches to work the same way. Here are a couple examples of how I did this on a few projects this month.
First up is this page - I initally started by punching out a bunch of the numbers off the back of the green gridded Echo Park paper - then I used that same paper in a strip on the page. See the negative space?  I punched larger circles out of another paper and added it as well.
Next up is this page - see the star that I punched out in the page above? Well, I cut around the paper with my trimmer and used the punched out part on this page here, along with more of that green circle punched paper too:
and lastly, there is this page - I punched some hearts from a kraft tag I had in my stash and then layered some papers from the kit behind them. I pop dotted the middle heart over the punched out shape.
I hope that you will give this idea a try - fancy machine or not!!
The July kits will be out soon - make sure you keep checking out the Scrapbook Circle site for details!

Together...

Time to share one last page I did using the Scrapbook Circle Field Notes kit

I love this cork board paper - I used it a while ago on another page, but it is just the right shade of kraft with some fun texture don't you think! ?

I really wanted to use bits and pieces again - I punched a bunch of numbers from one of the Echo Park papers in the kit and used the scrap piece (green) below:
I added in more washi tape to go with the washi tape that was included in the kit from Bella Blvd and stamped on it - of course, I stitched the crap out of it too ... lol
The camera paper in the kit is PERFECT! Honestly, I am hoarding it - cutting those little cameras out is so easy and a great embellishment. Layer it all onto the mini polaroids from another one of the papers and there you go !
It is always a new adventure when I get my next Scrapbook Circle kit - and I am expecting one any day now! I cannot wait to see what Lisa has snuck inside :)

Sports Freak

I am back to share with you a page I did for Scrapbook Circle this month, using the June Field Notes kit

Another great thing I love about this kit is all the fun colours - there is the bold yellow and mix it with some olivey green and even teal - heaven!
I just love the Echo Park letters -and that you get 2 different fonts is perfect for layered titles!
I am in LOVE with the washi tape by Bella Blvd that was in the kit too - all messy stitched, it is perfection !
I hope you have checked out the ideas gallery and snatched up a kit - if not, what are you waiting for!

Quick flower tutorial today!

Yes, it is.. at least I think so! I found some inspiration this month using the May kit - The Story. I really loved the pretty coral paper in this month's kit by Bazzill Basics. I dug into my previous Scrapbook Circle kits and found a coral flower from Pebblies Inc. that I hadn't used from a previous kit - like these ones here:
My problem was that I only had 1 flower - I like to use multiples of three on a page - so I improvised and made these:

They were super easy to create too. Here is how:

1) Punch 3 circles out of your favorite paper from the Scrapbook Circle kit (I used 1.5" circles)

2) On the back of the circle divide the paper into sections - start with an + and just keep making the + into smaller and smaller sections that resemble a V

3) Take your scissors and trim one thin V section and then leaving one. Repeat all the way around. If it doesn't equal out exact, that is okay you won't be able to tell once the flower is together!

4) Repeat for the other 2 circles

5) Take some foam squares/pop dots and layer in between 2 of the circles. Add a brad or button to the third circle and pop dot to the top

VOILA! You are done!! Here is my page using these flowers as accents:
You can make the flowers in different sizes quite easily - just adjust your circle size! The larger the circle, the larger the flower! And you can make the "petals" as thin or large as you want too - just adjust in the back of your paper when trimming!

Scrapbook Circle

I just love getting my Scrapbook Circle kits each month. It is like a new suprise each month - there are always some hidden treasures in the kits - something I might not have thought to buy on my own.

This kit has a few of those in it - and the add on is all treasure! :)

Here are a couple pages I did using the May kit:
I love the Hambly transparencies in the kit - such a pretty coral colour and they add a nice little pop of layered flair! I need more of them... and I mean NEED :)
I can't remember if I shared this page yet - but sorry, if I did... I I love the Studio Calico paper in the kit - this one is called cubicle - one side has all these lovely journalling tags on it in all different patterns. I love paper like that - you can chop it up and make it go a long way!!
The white Hambly rub ons from the add-on kit are soooooo good too!!! Welcome back Hambly, how I have missed you ! :)
Tell me what your latest found treasure is.. I would love to hear!!!
